Spread your Wings

This weekend past consisted of the usual plethora of physical activities, followed by the inevitable curling up in the fetal position on the tv-room floor and waiting for all of my overused and abused muscles to stop screaming. But other than that, there were two events that deserve to be noted.

The first is that one of my close friends has decided to leave the nest and for that matter, the country. He has embarked on a life journey of epic proportions. As a first step, he plans to teach English in Taiwan for the next two years. This morning I received a mail from him, saying that he is safe, Taipei is huge and everything is interesting. Quite an understatement if you ask me. I truly wish him the best of luck. From my conversations with him I know he is going on his journey with the right mindset. Namely to FULLY explore each country and to make each culture a part of him.

The second thing of note for this weekend is the discovery of a new sport for me. It is quite a simple activity. It consists of finding a mountain, climbing it and then seeing how fast you can descend the mountain. On Saturday a couple of friends and I climbed Stellenbosch mountain, upon which I tried to see how quickly I could reach the bottom, in one piece. My time: 21 min 33 sek.

OMG! What is it with you and fisical activity. You make me feel real bad for being a couch patato and a computer hooked GEEK.

Please try to sit still for a while after your muscles have ajusted.
